Amal Labs enters its next chapter focused on making learning more accessible, multilingual, and inclusive for teachers across the Global South. Through the programme, Amal Labs will leverage ElevenLabs’ Text-to-Speech and AI Dubbing technologies to develop new audio-first and multilingual learning experiences. The partnership will enable the team to explore ways of delivering educational content in the languages and formats that work best for teachers, from audio-supported learning materials to fully multilingual courses.
The announcement follows Amal Labs’ graduation from the Turn.io Chat for Learning & AI Accelerator, a six-month programme led by Turn.io in partnership with the Gates Foundation and Anthropic. The accelerator brought together a global cohort of education innovators and supported Amal Labs in strengthening and scaling its AI-powered support for teachers across Africa and India, delivered directly through WhatsApp.

Today, Amal Labs supports more than 30,000 teachers and 1.5 million students across 4,500 schools. More than 10,000 teachers connect directly with Amal through WhatsApp, a figure that has grown steadily since February.
During the accelerator, Amal Labs focused not on building a new product, but on scaling an approach already demonstrating traction: giving teachers working in overcrowded classrooms, often with limited resources and uneven access to quality educational materials, practical tools and training to better support their students. One of the key developments during this period was the launch of Amal Academy, a WhatsApp-based learning experience for teachers. The Academy has achieved a completion rate of more than 45%, demonstrating strong engagement with mobile-first professional learning.
The accelerator also enabled Amal Labs to deepen its work in pedagogy and frontier AI, while strengthening its approach to measuring learning outcomes in real classroom environments. The team now enters its next phase with a stronger platform, growing evidence of impact, and a continued commitment to responsible, locally grounded education technology.
